Daniel M Meboya offered his expertise in strategic communication as a UN-based multidisciplinary team comprised of Peacekeepers and civilian personnel travelled to the Cercle of Koro, Mopti Region from 23 to 25 January 2020.  The purpose of the mission was to pursue efforts of reconciliation between dogons and peulhs who have been living at loggerheads for nearly a year.

A firm and bone-crushing ‘handshake’ among dogons and peulhs was exchanged while the representatives of the UN Mission in Mali known as MINUSMA were watching.

“Coming to see our brothers and sisters, the peulhs, in their village is a landmark moment.  This surely paves the way for reconciliation and peace”, said Souleymane Doyoun from the dogon community.

The two communities welcomed the efforts of MINUSMA to promote reconciliation and peace between dogon and peul in Koro.

It is on everyone’s lips, but a comprehensive peace in Mali can only be achieved through the reinvigoration of the peace process on all its tracks.
